Social Networking
I am amazed by all of the different social networking sites there are out there. I am familiar with facebook and myspace but that was about it. I found the RN2RN interesting with definitely. Ning offers many social networking sites that are tailored to your personal interests and professional interests. I always considered social networking to be a network to keep in touch with friend. By signing up for Ning and participating in this Thing, I have learned that social networking is also a way to streamline resources for people and bring people together with similar interests and professional goals. Very useful

Collaborative Tools
I can see the potential of ease with transmission of a document for others input and ability to revise and make changes. I can see this as a very useful tool. However, what I found upon uploading a Word document to Google Docs, the format of the document changed. How do you maintain the format from Word to the Google Docs? When I save from Google Docs to a Word format the format from Google Docs is consistent with the saved document. Why does it not work from Word uploaded to Google Docs? If the format remained the same, this would be an extremely useful tool for the development of curriculms and policies, etc. Any advice to make this work? Is Google Docs compatible with certain Microsoft versions?

Social Bookmarking
Social Bookmarking could be very useful for sharing resources regarding simulation education and resources for the development of scenarios. I like that others could have access to the same material if so needed. However, my attempt to add the Delicious Bookmark was completely unsuccessful. I followed the directions and it never appeared on my toolbar. I do not know if it is because I was using my work computer and therefore it was denied, but I see the benefits in the work area not my in my personal life. This is primarily because when at home, I prefer not to be on the computer.
Any input would be helpful.

Podcast
I found that the podcast of interest could not be downloaded to my google reader. However, the link could be. I am finding this very useful. I like having all of my interested links in one spot. I am training for a marathon so I am utilizing these tools to keep updated on information regarding marathon training. The podcasts I added to my google reader are podcasts from the Running World website. I do think this will be beneficial. I have also thought that I am going to use the blog as my journal for training for a marathon.

The Pink Glove Dance
This was spread throughout IME. It brings a smile to my face everytime I watch it. I found it very inspirational that an institution was able to get such wide spread involvement of the employees with in its organization. I believe HealthPartners can do something big like this too.
RSS
Wow! The RSS... I didn't know about it before. I chose this feature after viewing the webinar provided by the librarians. I had never thought about the icons prior to this. I like the fact that I could add all of my interests to one site. It is kind of like adding sites to the Favorites Tab but easier. The YouTube video was really easy to understand spiking my interest. However, most of the sites I visit regularly, I found did not have RSS feeds. I like that I can copy and paste the site and a feed will be made if one does not exist. I am curious if I can make folders or titles with a breakdown of RSS feeds in each to limit the amount of titles I have to scroll through.
I feel like a world my 12 yr old son already knows about is available to me. Yeah!!! By subscribing to the Google Reader, I have learned about the calendar and document feature. I really like these. I am hoping that I can combine my outlook calendar from work with this calendar. Does anyone know how to do this?
My interest has been spiked. I am getting excited for new learning opportunities.

Gained new knowledge
New knowledge that surprised me was that many of the functions of Web 2.0 I use already and didn't realize it. Web 2.0 seems to be inbedded into many internet sites I utilize. What is disturbing to me is that my son knows more about this technology than I do. I still have a long way to come. I see the benefit in research collaboration and education purposes. The social networking aspect of Web 2.0 allows people to reunite and remain in contact offering a wonderful way to stay in contact.

A New World
I am entering into a new world... the Web 2.0 world. Socializing and learning from a distance. This is a new world for me and one I enter with a mixed apprehension and excitement. However, I am not one to sit back. So.... here I am ready for a blogging adventure. Let's get started!
